OBJECTIVEGive the ctudent a preview of work place expectaions, environment, challenges and skills required to deliver satisfactorily.[ I am not a marketing guy and so dont expect me to use words like 'excellent', 'outstanding' etc. liberally!]
THEME"The Generation Next CMP" [CMP = Cost Management Professional]or"New Age Cost Management Practices"
FORMAT A two stage contest:Stage 1. (Selection Stage)This wd have 3 competitions.a) Quizb) Information Analysis and Reportingc) Presentation outline on the theme of the NCC-SAll web based Stage 2. (DirectLIve Stage)This wd involve using a case study that would bring out the student's ability to succeed in a 'simulated' real life situationThe case study will have three rounds. At the end of each the student wd be tested for one of the Top 3 attributes required to function effectively as a Cost and Managemnt Professional.
CONTENTStage 1. (Selection Stage)a) Quiz50 qns of which 30 wd be on General Business 5 wd be visual quiz on General Business15 wd be on subjects from teh current syllabus for Stage 1/2/3/4.The student wd be free to chose the stage in which he desires to be quizzed.The quiz will be hosted on our elearning site with a view to popularize the elearning program.b) Information Analysis and ReportingAnalysing the given set of Fianacials and Reporting the Findings. (This need not be very technical (as some Stage-1 students wd also be in the race.) The analytical report is to be presented briefly thru a ppt of not more than 6 slides predominantly visual with conclusions in text.c) Presentation outline on the theme of the NCC-STo be presented briefly thru a ppt of not more than 10 slides. Students who score the highest points (graded on percentiles) overall plus meet a minimum in each competition again, graded on percentiles)would be declared Stage Winners. These SWs wd go into the Stage-2 (DirectLIve) at Hyd on 17 Jan 2007.Stage 2. (DirectLIve Stage)Will start with a DirectLive Quiz. (The DLQ would pick up the best practices from KBC, ESPN Sports Quiz and the Business Challenge of CNBC.)Based on the scores in the DLQ students wd be 'seeded' as in Grand Slam Tennis Championships. {Details when we meet Sunday]The will unravel the Case in 3 'episodes'In each 'episode' the case will be developed to a crisis point and the teams wd be given time to analyse the situation and formulate their responses. Episode Directors would hear out the solutions and rate the teams. The EMs wd also comment upon the solutions so that the learning cycle is complete.(Audience wd be also voting on each solution. The average audience score wd be included for final rating of the teams. Audience rating wdalso be tracked and the persons with the rating matching those of the episode managers wd earn token prizes)The entire program would use as much hi tech as possible subject to technology infrastructure and budget constraints.
